CONECS Project: Industrializing Pointing Systems for NewSpace Optical Communication under the France 2030 Plan

The CONECS project aims to develop complete pointing systems (FSM) for Free Space Optical (FSO) communication, enabling ultra-high-speed and secure data links. To meet the cost reductions required in NewSpace, the project will incorporate innovations in piezoelectric mechanisms and optical technologies, as well as the development of hardened electronics with its associated control-command software. The project will also establish a French industrial supply chain, structured to produce the large volumes expected for satellite constellations.

Latest Key Milestone Achieved

The Preliminary Design Review has been successfully completed.
The Critical Design Review is scheduled for December, in collaboration with CNES and BPI.

Comprehensive review of optical, mechanical, and electronic designs has been conducted.
