Nanometric positioning with piezo actuator and high stability strain gauges
19 June 2023
Many applications require long-term position stability, which relates to the notion of absolute precision over time. Until now, the long-term stability of strain gages (SG) for position measurement was questionable. Using its extensive know-how of strain gages integration and new instrumentation equipment, Cedrat Technologies has managed to demonstrate nanometric position stability of a closed-loop piezo-mechanism with integrated strain gages sensors. This technology opens a wide range of new possibilities for industrial, aeronautical, and space applications.

Lpm motor test
19 June 2023
We are delighted in announcing the successful test of our LPM20 linear piezoelectric motor, carried out in June this year at the CNES (French Agency Space), Toulouse in vacuum conditions.Developed for positioning applications, the piezoelectric motor
has proved to be a very interesting solution thanks to its high massive force, its zero consumption at rest and its high precision. For space applications, it is a question of obtaining an identical behaviour in ambient and in vacuum conditions.
However, the friction drive that is the key to the functioning of the piezoelectric motor, limits the lifespan and poses tribology problems.

M2EMS Miniature magnetic rotating motor
19 June 2023
Thanks to the help of intensive modelling, the two first prototypes realised in the framework of the M2 EMS project are functional. It consists of prototypes of single-phase stepper motor whose structure has been transformed from the Lavet motor so as to take into account collective production of the magnet film layers, which are developed in the M2 EMS project.

Magnetic resonant sensors for remote identification of objects
19 June 2023
This article deals with the use of Magnetic Resonant Sensors (M.R.S) for the realisation of an identification system. Nowadays, the market of I.D. systems evolves versus magnetic tags as they bring some advantages like remote identification and removal of the need of handling.

Magnetically actuated fast steering mirrors
19 June 2023
Free-Space Optics (FSO) for optical communication request new compact low-power high-stroke high-bandwidth Fast
Steering Mirrors (FSM). To address this need, CEDRAT TECHNOLOGIES has developed a Magnetically-actuated Fast
Steering Mirror called M-FSM, taking heritage of its MICA™ actuators. This FSM offers Rx Ry strokes larger than +/-
2° with a 250Hz bandwidth when tilting a 31mm diam mirror. Requested power is minimized leading to low heating.
Vibration tests have been performed to define first limits and conditions for the M-FSM to bear external vibrations. Large
bandwidth closed loop control is achieved using integrated eddy current sensor and a state feedback-based controller.

Mechanical structure with high force amplification ratio for low frequency piezoelectric harvester application
19 June 2023
A mechanical structure based on serial stacking of level arm has been designed in order to amplify the ingoing force of the the harvester system. The outgoing force is applied upon the smart material. The deformation of the mechanical structure is based on flexural pivots using four truncated circular collars. The last amplification is based on the APA® (Amplified Piezoelectric Actuator) shell and already patented solution by Cedrat Technologies. The force amplification structure has been designed upon the request of a small volume allocated (0.3 cm3) and low frequency resonance (20 Hz) harvester
